License terms
Effective 25 October 2026
A license is US$19, paid once, for three Macs, with every update to Turnout 1. Try Turnout for 7 days first, and 7 more if you ask. Not for you? A refund within 14 days, no questions.
One license, three Macs
A license is one key, and it works on three Macs at a time: yours, your household's, or Macs within one organization. Each Mac that uses the key takes one of its three places. Remove a Mac you no longer use, in the License pane on any of your Macs or in Polar's customer portal, and it no longer takes a place. A fourth Mac needs another license, which covers three more.
The trial
Turnout works in full for 7 days from its first launch on each Mac. When the trial ends, you can add 7 more days, once, with one click. There is nothing to sign up for, no card to give, and no license check during the trial.
After the trial, only connecting needs a license. Tunnels that are connected stay connected, and disconnecting, editing, importing, exporting, repairing network settings and uninstalling always work. Your configs are never held back.
Updates
Every update to Turnout 1 is included. A future major version would be a separate purchase, with a discount for existing customers; every update to Turnout 1 stays included either way.
Price, payment and tax
A license is US$19, paid once; tax may be added at checkout depending on your country. There is no subscription and no account.
Polar (polar.sh) sells Turnout as the seller of record: it takes the payment, handles tax, issues the receipt and keeps your order. Polar's buyer terms govern the purchase itself.
Your key
As soon as you have paid, Polar's page shows your license key, with a button to copy it. Open Turnout, choose License in the sidebar of its window, and paste the key; if the key is on the clipboard when the pane opens, Turnout offers it. Your other Macs signed in to the same iCloud account find the license there and use it with one click.
The key stays on your Polar purchases page: sign in with the email address you bought with, and Polar sends you a code. That is also where you can remove a Mac that Turnout cannot list for you.
Giving it to someone else
You can give your license away: remove it from your Macs, then hand over the key. A license is not for resale.
Refunds
Not for you? Ask for a refund within 14 days of buying, by email to [email protected] from the address you bought with, and you get it, no questions asked. A refund ends the license: Macs using its key can no longer connect, and tunnels that are connected stay connected until you disconnect them.
Why Turnout costs money
Turnout's background service runs as root and has to keep working, safely, across every macOS release. There is no account, no subscription and no advertising to pay for that. A one-time price does.
Changes
If these terms change, the new version will be posted on this page with a new effective date. They are available in English, 繁體中文, 日本語, Español and 한국어; if they differ, the English version applies.
